Okay, but it's just not always necessary.

I'm 40 and I just had two wisdom teeth pulled with regular old novocaine.  They way they talked about the options (really pushing the nitrous and/or the anesthesia) made me really scared ahead of time, because they made it seem like I would *really* suffer without it.  The main reason I said no is because I didn't want to spend the money on it, and I thought that I would probably be okay despite their warnings.

It was really no big deal.  There was no pain at all.  Yes, there was some pulling and for about 3 seconds, a really gross wrenching feeling.  But no pain, and then it was over.  Your kid can get through this, find a dentist who isn't going to scare the crap out of her in the process of trying to sell her medication that isn't really necessary.

It also depends on the severity of the teeth. If they're impacted, no way would I go with just novacaine. It actually turns my stomach just thinking about it (I had four removed, two were impacted).[/quote]
