And my best friends too (who agree with me about how difficult a person she is.) I already have a much more open relationship with my kids than my mom and I have ever had. I'm sure they'll laugh and complain about me for many things, but they know they can always talk to me about anything, that I take their complaints seriously and don't get defensive, that I'm not passive aggressive and won't try to guilt them, and that I can also laugh at myself and admit when I am wrong and be sincere about it. Plus I'm not a narcissist who needs adulation from my kids. I work hard not to be like my mother. [/quote]
