SOL's were offshoots of Core Knowledge developed by Ed Hirsch.   I am surprised that anyone in the DC area would post this since for many people where you live can easily be determined by what is on the market at the point you buy a house.  Arlington/City of Falls Church/City of Alexandria/Mclean [FCPS] are 4 different school districts.   Add to that MCPS and DC.   My children are older and I remember the radical whole language  and the Rainforest Syndrome.
