Why can't people with higher incomes post questions without getting mocked? Asking a money forum if you are saving enough based on your income is a completely legitimate question. If you don't know the answer or like the question don't respond. OP: Given that you are maxing out on retirement and have childcare costs your savings rate seems adequate. I would recommend that you truly are saving enough for retirement.
I just find it funny that some posters with these high incomes (which should, but obviously not always, denote some form of higher education and intelligence) can be so clueless as to how to handle their money 1) You should be able to afford a financial planner - use one 2) The internet is literally filled with hundreds of websites devoted to helping people manage their money - an anonymous forum would be way down on that list 3) When you post your higher than average income, and tell everyone that you are "only" saving on average more than most people make in a year, please think of a way to phrase your question so that you don't come off like an asshole - otherwise, you will get plenty of sarcastic responses.
Yep, this sums it up. For those of us who earn less, we find it hard to imagine someone so affluent would be so clueless about money, so we assume that they are bragging/trolling.
