Thank you OP. I would like more people to post these also. Even though this is an anonymous forum, I like getting college info from DCUM rather than College Confidential! OP, I am interested in your comment that Emory felt small, warm and nurturing. Can you elaborate? That is what DS would like, and I was afraid Emory would be too big and busy feeling (like UVA felt to him). We will be visiting in a couple weeks. Did you happen to check out the Oxford campus? We only have one day in Atlanta and are unsure whether it is worth driving out there, or whether we should spend the extra time on the main campus. Thanks!
The campus lives very small, especially for Freshman. They have a prof and family living downstairs in each of the Freshman dorms and a lot of students love to visit them. They say it's a great remedy for homesickness. People were very friendly, and the class ratios are small. You got a real sense of community while walking about. The admissions speaker is rather uninspiring; my daughter felt she was a bit scripted, but you could tell she was warm and caring. The Oxford campus is a lot smaller, and father out. The admissions says you can apply to both. We didn't visit it though. The main campus did not seem at all busy or chaotic. They have lots of events for students, a weekly farmers market, and local restaurants bring in freebies. Locals bring in puppies for stress relief during finals week. Lots of things like that help a campus feel homey. Park in the Oxford garage, btw. That's the name of the garage closest to admissions at the main campus. Look into College of Charleston as well. The students rave about it!
