I am very happy with the Virgin Mobile plan and phone. I bought the phone from them and pay $45/month for 1200 minutes and unlimited text and data. A lot cheaper than Verizon. Virgin uses the Sprint network so I don't have any issues with coverage. The only downside is that you cannot use their phones when you are overseas so if you frequently travel internationally, that way be a problem.
+1 I had Sprint for almost 20 years (since pre-PCS network) and was on a minimal $49 plan that included 250 anytime voice minutes, unlimited night/weekend voice and NO data or texts (I paid 20 center per text and a lot for data, which I avoided using) with a non-Smart phone. I bought a smart phone for $70, and have a plan that includes 300 minutes voice and unlimited data and texts for $35/month. I save money and use my phone a lot for data and text now and I have the same network I've always had.
