This is actually a very helpful forum to me. I just got my period and have a luteal of about 9-10 days, depending on when you count "period" as starting. I read on Shady Grove's website that if you get your period after 5pm, Day 1 is actually the next day. A few months I have gotten my period in the evening, so depending on how you interpret it, my luteal is 9 or 10 days. My first day of my period this cycle was also very light like spotting, and the second day is heavier, so that also makes 9-10 days a little gray. Any thoughts folks have would be helpful. I think this month I am going to go in for day 21 testing (day 3 falls on Sunday). This will be my 6 month tracking my cycles, 5th month TTC with a consistent 9-10 day luteal. I also have to check with my insurance - it says must try for 1 year (basically no waivers there), but not sure if that only applies to IVF, IUI, etc or also bloodwork and other more general testing. I need to call Monday when they open....
Count from the heavier day, not the light spotting day. Not that it makes a huge difference in your case. When you chart do you notice a temp spike? If you don't then you might not be ovulating and that can cause a short luteal phase. Once they determine you are ovulating with the day 21 test you can try progesterone. You also say that you have been trying for one year of insurance purposes if you want to get the tests done to see if you are okay.
Thanks for that info. I am going to try temping this month to confirm ovulation, even though I have regular periods and always get a positive opk. Also, I am skinny but not underweight.
