You are sentencing yourself to bad design choices by trying to change things incrementally -- you can only pick what looks OK at each stage, rather than picking what will look really good when you're done. You seem to want approval to go with beige. It's your house, do what you want. If you like beige, go for it. If you want something timeless that might appeal to a future buyer of the house -- what, 10 years from now? 20? -- beige isn't it.
