I have friends among that community who moved to ultrarunning after having done multiple iron distance races and wanted a new challenge but even then none of them would say that triathlon is "1990ish". Yes the World Triathlon Corporation, which owns the "Ironman" name and M-dot logo is the behemoth among all iron distance races but it's not the only game in town. there are iron distance races all over the world that are considered ironman races but not under the trademarked Ironman brand.[/quote]
