OP here- he doesn't have an ASD diagnosis, He has a Social Pragmatic Clmmunication diagnosis. It's so new. Trying to understand what it means.
I have a kid with Asperger's so have the social communication deficits + 2. The most helpful therapies were those done at school - social skills class and group Speech language classes focusing on pragmatics. Hang in there, it really does get better. My kid was diagnosed at 4 and now at 6 appears NT to most people. DS has friends and is fully engaged at school where he is mainstreamed. Pragmatic skills can be taught and learned. You can get a lot of help from the teachers. They can assign "buddies"/classmates to your child and make suggestions for which kids will be a good match for play dates. GL!
