What if I told my therapist I hate being alive, I think about dying most of the day as it helps get me through the day but that I don't plan on commuting suicide because I don't want to burn in hell forever. Would that therapist make me go to a psych ward? I've lived this way most of my life and I'm still alive.
First of all it sounds like you are looking for reasons not to get help. You need help. You don't need to suffer like this. It is not easy to commit someone to a psychiatric hospital. You would have to be in imminent danger, in which case thats where you should be. if you went to a psychiatrist and told him what you just wrote, he would treat you and help you but not have you hospitalized. You do realize, I assume, that you are nonetheless at high risk for suicide. You really need to get help.
