^Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder is not Autism Spectrum Disorder but it's own diagnosis so whoever diagnosed did not give an "easy" diagnosis.
We have both diagnosis. It was a very easy diagnosis for us to be given with an hour evaluation.
Maybe you should get a second opinion from someone who does not give a diagnosis after only an hour evaluation. In the new DSM-V, you cannot get both a diagnosis of both ASD and Social Pragmatic communication disorder b/c deficits in pragmatic speech is already included in ASD and SPCD is a deficit ONLY in pragmatic speech w/o the repetitive behaviors and obsessive interests that characterizes Asperger's (which is now included in ASD) as OP already said.
This is correct. ASD has to be ruled out first to be diagnosed with social communication disorder. http://www.psychiatry.org/File%20Library/Practice/DSM/DSM-5/DSM-5-Social-Communication-Fact-Sheet.pdf OP, from what you describe the ASD diagnosis is what you need to address. Talking about having SCD only makes it confusing.
