So I would try to remain calm in the face of her fury, make lots of sympathetic noises about her plight, try to reassure her that you will do whatever is necessary to reduce the burden on her....

and I would simultaneously calmly make it clear that this is happening, that in fact it is really incumbent upon your family to make this happen since DD was the beneficiary of someone else's hospitality, and this is just the way that it is, and it's only a short period of time and everyone will get through it.
