The only thing more unseemly than trying to ditch a fun event would be to actually try to use "my wife is sick" as a reason. This also applies to "my wife is in labor." Wife needs to be dying. It sucks to be sick, OP, and I'm flying solo most of the time, so I get it. But unless he's going out drinking for fun (which is a dick move), he probably doesn't have much of a choice. [/quote]
