We drink a Vitamix Veggie drink almost every morning. The whole veggies are used so you're not extracting juice and discarding all the fiber and nutrients like you do with a juicer. We do it because we are in a hurry in the morning, don't have time to make a healthy breakfast, and it's a quick and easy way to get veggies into our bodies on a daily basis. They fill me up until lunch and taste really good. I usually cut up veggies on the weekends and have them ready to just throw in the Vitamix every morning with some ice and water to thin it out. I always have tomatoes, and then add any or all of the following: celery, zucchini, broccoli, kale, spinach, peppers (if I make one just for DH and myself, I use chilies to give it some spice!), parsley, cilantro, chives, carrots, sliver of onion or garlic.
is it bitter? raw broccoli is so strong...
It can be if you don't balance it. That's why I always put tomatoes in - 2 or 3 at least - they really sweeten it up. When I use broccoli I use a smaller quantity so that it doesn't over power everything else. Cucumbers will also help balance the flavors. For the chefs that wonder about home use of Vitamix, I admit that when I bought it several years ago, I really didn't need it for anything that I couldn't use my regular blender for (DH and I were sold at one of those home show demonstrations!!). But then when I started making the veggie drinks, I found you really do need something that powerful otherwise they are too gritty to drink. Especially with things like carrots, beets, broccoli, etc. And that's when I started using it almost on a daily basis.
