LOL! Arlington didn't even make the top 10.
Who are these Arlington haters? Could you not afford the home you wanted there? I just don't get it. Who goes on a forum to trash a place they don't care about? The only things I am so passionate about are things I really, really care about. Generally, because I'm jealous of what someone else has. You know what? I live in Arlington and love it here. But I don't need to trash McLean or Bethesda to enjoy my environs. Obviously, there are enough people who feel the same way because homes here keep selling. And they keep selling for a lot of money. You don't like it? Don't move here. But the posters that passionately trash this area betray their incredible jealousy. Because ladies, if you really didn't care, you -- wait for it -- wouldn't care about this.
Not to mention, Arlington isn't a city, so I don't know how it was supposed to be included on a list of the best cities in Virginia.
This is pretty much a copout reply, since most of the cities on that list aren't technical "cities." It's clear the article meant "cities" in the way people describe places or locals.
Arlington doesn't need to be on any list for me (and countless others) to buy here. The cities on that list, I'm sure, are also great. There are plenty of cities not on that list (Arlington actually DOES make the list at #12 or something) that are also great. But OP's post wasn't about Arlington, so why does the same anti-Arlington poster need to make everything into a pissing contest about Arlington versus The World? I'm sure we folks who live in Arlington will all concede that Fairfax County is a great place to live, just as most sane human beings would think the same of Arlington!
