Excuse me. Individuals with valid work authorization in the US. My company hires many workers of foreign origin but only those authorized to work in this country for any employer, which means Green card holder or naturalized US citizen. Very, very few candidates are worth the trouble of getting an H1 visa for them. Companies mostly do it so they can pay them very low wages.[/quote]

My company (construction general contractor) hires quite a few H1 visa holders and my wages are not low.  However, much fewer get sponsored for greencards.  It's not that the company is unwilling. It's the paperwork and procedures that get in the way.  6 years ago, we had 10 employees seeking company sponsored GCs.  Only 2 stayed long enough to get them.  The rest were let go or jumped ship.
