DH is an idiot
Why? It is reasonable to think it might be drug paraphernalia. both parents being drug naive and not knowing a lot about what what drug it might be used for doesn't make him an idiot. I really hate this trend of putting men down and name calling them for no reason.
I think PP said that because OP's husband thinks it is related to smoking cocaine, whereas pot seems to be the obvious likelihood. It just shows his naivety when it comes to drugs. OP, you do need to talk to your son, but I suggest you and your husband to some reading up online and other resources first. Since you both have zero experience with drugs, you want to make sure you handle this well. I graduated high school in 2004 so I like to think I'm not THAT old. I think one of the worst things parents can do is the whole "drugs will ruin your future, drugs will turn you into a bad person" type of speech. There were so many people I went to high school with that smoked pot and were star athletes and students so that entire conversation will go in one ear and ear out the other. But yeah, unless it is a hole that looks like it appeared from a breakage, he is likely using this to smoke pot.
OP didn't know what it was either and is also naive - yet no one called her an idiot. I doubt calling women idiots for making a possibly wrong assumption in a new situation would be acceptable.
Yes, but she admitted to not knowing and having zero experience with this, which is why she came online to seek advice. Makes more sense than jumping to the conclusion that her son is smoking crack. I would have thought she was naive and an idiot as well if she posted on here saying "found this in DS' room and it must mean he's smoking crack. What do I do now?"
