Lot's of good advice here. OP, I'm the early poster who said my DC was much like yours but we switched schools from a traditional to a SN school for kids with ADHD. Worked brilliantly and really did completely change our kid around into a self-motivated straight A kid (just in time, too!). They just "get" kids with ADHD. Do you want to hear from any of us about possible change in school? If so, where do you live, how far are you willing to commute and can you continue to afford private..
PP, thanks, I would be interested in hearing thoughts from you and others on possible school, changes. We are in Alexandria, and in principle willing to move to be closer to a great school- we are sort of outgrowing our house anyway, so we have thought about moving. I have heard great things about commonwealth but I worry that a DC would feel stigmatized.... She is doing okay at her current school, not great but not horribly, and I worry that she would interpret a SN school as a statement that she "can't make it" at a regular school. Also, though she lacks academic motivation, she loves her current school....
