OP here. I'm I guess what people would call a "goth". I've toned my look down a lot and am not OTT now. I've worn all black for the past 25 years. I wear mostly long black skirts and black tunics/tops. My DS will be starting school soon, and my husband wants me to stop wearing all black, change my hair style, and take out my nose ring, because he says he's afraid other kids will make fun of DS for having a "freaky mom". He's also afraid that other parents will be put off by me. Do you think he's right?
I think DH is trying to say that he thinks you'd look nice with a new look. Do you do the pale white makeup and black hair, too? Because otherwise, black top/bottom and a nose ring wouldn't stand out much to me. How are you received when meeting new people, usually? Not that you should dress for others, but if you don't get negative reactions now, I don't know why you would when your son starts school.
