Some of you might be interested to know that DC is actually quite an international town.  With real live foreigners.  Some in Embassies, some in international institutions and some just here.  We might not be all that up with American traditions.  I laughed when someone asked me the other day how we celebrate Thanksgiving at home.  As if the whole world has adopted an American holiday.  I would not expect you to know about my traditions.  But I would hope that a genuine interest in yours elicited a genuine response instead of smug, insular vitriol.[/quote]
