If your child is in elementary school "on his/her way to middle school" than he/she shouldn't have a teacher dedicated to English. Correct me if I'm wrong, but how can a teacher who can't spell (for whatever reason) teach high school English? It'd be similar to a swim coach who can't swim, or a driver ed instructor who can't drive. I am confused.[/quote]

Not PP, but spelling is usually not covered in high school English.  Literature, grammar, vocabulary, composition, oral communication, etc are.  Not saying it doesn't matter, but those analogies are not really accurate.  A teacher with a disability that affects his or her spelling can certainly still teach literature interpretation or how to craft a research a paper.[/quote]
