You said you found out he was in a band. Did you say "I looked you up online and saw your band. That sounds cool. How do you like it?" or did you say "I saw your band online and I really did not care for it"? I actually feel that there are ways to disclose that you looked someone up that are totally normal and reasonable. If I found myself in this situation, I would make a joke of it. I would also then use the information that I found as a way to start a conversation about that information. After all, if you like this person, you are going to have to conversations about many of these things anyway.[/quote]
