Another SADS parent of 4 years. We love the school and have been so much happier at SADS than we were at a previous center that was also NAEYC certified. Our children are learning so much (our 4.5 year old is already doing basic reading and writing) and the teachers are loving, happy, and morale is generally good. I am shocked that SADS parents on here are complaining about the 10-hour-per-family volunteer commitment! To me, it's one of the best things about SADS because it encourages families to be involved with their kids, get to know each other, and establish a sense of community which is so unique! It's what separates SADS from corporate centers like Bright Horizons, where parents drop off and pick up and barely say boo to each other aside from vying for parking spaces! The volunteering is usually directly for your kids... Organizing class parties, helping make sno-cones at the class picnic, etc. all activities that the children to crazy for, which are also unique! As for parents being snooty....hasn't been my experience at all. Sure there are some who are friendlier than others, but you will always find a few sour pusses at any group setting. The vast majority of parents are fun loving, hardworking professionals who value spending time with their kids and doing the little extras like organizing class parties, soccer clinics, teacher surprises, and even community service type activities. It's a wholesome and rewarding environment and encourages the children in positive ways. We love SADS and recommend it very highly.
