They just have to deal with them at a time when they are dealing with another 100 things. This probably has more to do with whether the principal wants to take vacation the 2 weeks before school. If she send the letter out, she's unavailable before school starts and looks absentee. I think is logistically stupid. If the kids don't know who their teacher is on the first day of class then they all have to look at up when they arrive on the first day. This isn't an issue if most people go to the open house the day before and its just a few kids. If its a school where no one attends the open house then its a mess the first day.[/quote]
