This article does a pretty good job explaining leaky brain syndrome. Leaky gut is referred to by medical doctors as hyperpermeable intestines which is caused by overgrown bad bacteria and yeast. My son's primary doc had never heard of the condition and rolled his eyes when I told him the probiotics were helping better than medication. I think most mainstream doctors aren't focused on gut health. They've been trained to focus more on the symptom. With time and more studies, doctors will better understand the importance of gut health, but why wait until then?

If Miralax even has a chance of being toxic to the system, I'd stay away from it. I've had some of the best doctors in the nation treating my son over the years and he's only gotten worse with his mental health. It wasn't until we focused on healing his gut and taking him off his meds,that we've actually seen improvements. Doctors aren't perfect (I know, I'm married to one :-)) and the drug companies will only report good findings. When my husband was in college doing a study on Accutane funded by the manufacturer, they found that the Accutane was causing birth defects galore in mice. Of course the drug company stopped the funding and refused to allow the students to publish their findings! This was of course well before women taking Accutane while pregnant had babies with severe birth defects. Now they have to be on birth control of the go on Accutane.[/quote]
