Love my keurig, immersion blender, toaster oven & kitchen aid mixer. Tell me all the great things about a Vitamix because I just can't justify the expense. What's the difference between it and a Blendtec?
I don't know what a Blendtec is, but I LOVE my Vitamix. We used to juice a lot - but juicers throw out the healthiest part of the fruits and vegetables. And you can't really make good veggie drinks besides carrot/beet juice. I use my Vitamix daily to make veggie drinks. I really don't like sweet fruit smoothies, but I love savory veggie drinks. I always use tomatoes or carrots as a base, then add everything from cukes, spinach, kale, chili peppers, bell peppers, celery, broccoli, beets. I add water and ice and it just pulverizes everything into a smooth, pulp-free drink. You can make it as thick or thin as you like by just adding more water. A regular blender couldn't do that. DH and I drink one every day for breakfast and we get at least 5 whole veggies in for the day. It fills me up until lunch. You can make soups in it too. DH and DD make lots of fruit smoothies too. There is a dry grind attachment which is good for grinding whole spices - which we do in our house for Indian cooking (DH is from India and in-laws come for extended periods of time). It is very expensive, but like I said, we use it daily.
