I agree.  That's why, although I do not believe that God exists as an objective reality, I accept that He exists for believers as a subjective reality, and that this fact is itself an objective reality of great importance in our society.  But while I think all of us atheists should respect that subjective reality, I also think believers should accept that God is not an objective reality to be forced by our political system on those of us who do not share the faith in His existence.[/quote]

Thanks.  Atheists like you are the reason I was careful to use the phases "some athiests" and "segment of the...community".  I know the condescending athiests crowd do not speak for all.

On the substantive part of your post.  I am all for separation of church and state.  I think it has gotten a little goofy and out of hand.  It seems that the separation of church and state movement has, in the last 25 years become hostile to Christianity for no real reason.  I don't want anyone to force my kids to pray at school.  But if someone is praying at school, I'm OK with kids opting out or silently meditating in their own way.  [/quote]
