Sorry, the safest thing to do is to get the F inside / somewhere safe. While there is certainly a time and place for the lightning safety position, it should be considered the option of last resort, which should basically never be necessary for athletic events near shelter. I agree but the problem with the Situation when Noah eig died is that there was no shelter near the field. The nearest shelter would have been the cathedral or sta, which involved a long walk up a hill surrounded by woods and trees, or strangers' houses. There were hundreds of people there and nowhere to go. Yes he should not have huddled under a tree but the entire area was surrounded by trees and it is the highestoint on dc.
