[/quote]You were probably thinking of the German spelling, like the composer Felix Mendelsohn.  As for Grosso, he's the one who beat Michael Brown (and several others) in the 2012 election -- [b]perhaps more surprising than Mendelson beating Bolden[/b], since Grosso was a new name for the electorate and Brown was a well-known incumbent. A DC political insider once told me that Mendelson is an absolute assassin as a candidate.  After losing his first bid to get on the council (which might have been a reach, since he was running as an ANC commissioner for an at-large seat), he has won five consecutive city-wide elections.  [/quote]
