Some kids in my high school thought it would be fun to make a pipe bomb. The plan was to set it off in a field. They emptied the gunpowder out of the fireworks and put it in the pipe. When they screwed the cap on, one kid thought it would be funny to hit it with a hammer, it wasn't. He got shrapnel in the face and the kid holding it had his fingers blown off. When I was younger, and lived near Lowell, there were kids that would go fishing and then blow up the carp with fire crackers. As an adult an idiot boyfriend dropped a brick of firecrackers into a fire to see what would happen. Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. Here I have a neighbor that sets them off all the time. He's always drunk and finds it fun. He doesn't care if we are in a drought and he could start a fire. He doesn't care that I find the casings all over my yard and he wouldn't care if he set my house on fire. Nor does he care that they are illegal in our county. He just sets off two or three and goes back inside before the cops go looking for him. FWIW other neighbors thought it was someone else and it took me six years to catch him in the act and know it was in fact the guy I thought it was. I'm tend to think they shouldn't be so readily available. Any idiot can get a hold of them and hurt someone. It doesn't matter if they are making a bomb or not.
I think the problem here arises from the multitude of white trash interacting in this story.
I'd agree but the only "white trash" were the kids from Lowell.
