It is simple for out of state transfers... Good luck!
This is a much easier road into the program than the standard application process. No GBRS to muck up a good standard score. Why can't my Fairfax County child apply this way and not have to deal with a teachers evaluation and just sand on his scores and grades? What if the child is rejected, is there an appeal with no info. similar to the standard process?
No appeal process that I am aware of. Just try to reapply by parent referal in the next cycle like everyone else. If you don't apply in the summer you just get tested in the fall and have the option of transferring schools at semester should your kid qualify. I wonder if since they are relying primaily on scores, if the threshold is higher. This is just annecdotal on an anonymous board, but the several out of state transfers I know who were accepted had scores in the 99% range and were in gifted programs at their prior state. The two I kno who were not accepted had great scores but not quite that high, and only one was in the gt program out of state. So maybe they are a little harder with the scores since that is what they are primarily using. No borderline kids accepted in the summer transfers, just cut and dry files. Plus, as I posted before, I bet the district sees mostly 16s from out of state transfers.
