DC did 3rd grade Kumon workbooks while she was in 1st gr. (4th gr. wkbk in 2nd gr. etc...) We bought the work books from Amazon. One exercise per subject per day. Play with mommy at home, or playground time outdoor after the workbook. DC looked forward to it everyday.

Op, I understand you think your DC is not gifted. However, gifted or not, let her reach her full potential. As parent, we don't want to be the "gate" that keep them from moving forward. Our job is to get things ready for them when they are ready. If she is ready for 3rd gr. work, teach them 3rd gr. work. don't count on school entirely.

Let her take the GT exam. If she gets in, she is ready. if she doesn't get in, fine. you will get a score and have a clearer picture where your DC stands when compare to others kids.

Once activity per subject per day?  So your child was doing like 4 activities (Math, reading, writing, etc) M-F?  Thats quite impressive actually[/quote]
