If I have water and power, but no ability to bring in additional supplies, I think I can squeeze 2-3 months out of what's actually in the house right now. That's with rationing, and the meals would start to suck pretty quickly. Lots of pantry staples that require inputs to be edible, and more inputs to be tasty.

I do think about defending those resources. I don't own a gun, nor would I be able to use it if I had one. But I DO have burglar bars, leftover from a shittier time in the city. So not the easiest of targets. If we hunkered down, kept the lights off, I'd give us even odds of not getting victimized. [/quote]
