Not OP, but can someone advise the best way to transition from swim lessons to competitive swimming for elementary? Very close to Marymount but can't figure out how all the clubs work and seems like a big jump to start paying $2,500+ from regular swim lessons. So, non-high level swimmer but who wants to be a better swimmer. Was going to start with winter swim.
The jump in cost seems huge at first, but you are getting much more out of the program in terms of level of coaching, frequency and size of meets, and committing to a 9 month or 11 month program. Rough cost should be around $1k for each day of the week kid is swimming. 2 days per week starting out is a good transition. Recommend looking at programs close to your house, convenient in schedule for after school, preferably where they have friends (although they will make friends quickly even if they don't). I like York, Hydra, and Machine for close programs. Talk to a coach and get recommendations on fit for your swimmer.
