Sometimes they quit. This person may already have their resume out looking. It can be challenging to get mid year replacements but they do it. My kid has a Spanish teacher that had some sort of breakdown, stopped showing up and then apparently left the country (this was years ago). They did find a replacement in a month or so. Getting an aide assigned might be helpful depending on what the issues are. If it makes you feel better, I had an awful 4th grade teacher and learned nothing for an entire year except what I taught myself. I still ended up with fancy college and grad degrees. You can recover from one lost ES year pretty easily. [/quote]
