They are so bad at this. Why didn’t they call the police and why did they wait days to send a letter notifying the community? Every single time there is an incident, the response is not as tight as it could or should be. Also, it has been said many times, but all these expelled kids and kids with criminal histories should not be returning to our regular gened schools. They are known threats to our school communities and MCPS needs to figure out an alternative environment where the right level of supervision is possible (the regular schools can’t provide the level of supervision obviously needed). Marcus Jones needs to work with Taylor to make this a priority.
What makes you think they didn't call the police? If you saw the video, you'd see that the teacher in the classroom was quite petite and she did enter the ruckus at some point, just not immediately (she entered when she saw an opportunity). She yelled for kids to call security but again, maybe about 30 seconds later than you'd like. I've never been in such a situation so try to give the benefit of the doubt that this isn't so different from what a lot of people would do. It seems like maybe there is a criminal assault case being made, so I'm not sure why you think they didn't call police. When there's a couple of day delay (which, btw, was over the weekend so kids weren't in school those days in between), it's usually because the MCPS central admin wants to approve the language before sending it out. Likely for legal reasons. I agree with your point on alternate environments, though. This seems to happen with enough frequency that it would be a full building. I'd hate to be a teacher working there but it would make the environment better for everyone else.
