Closer to home Camp Letts (that's the Y one PP mentioned) and Sandy Hill Camp. Lots of kids in DC area go to summer camp in WV (e.g., Camp Twin Creeks, Camp Hidden Meadows) In PA, Mercersburg has summer camps living in dorms.
Sandy Hill is a fabulous camp. I have sent my kids all over the country to camps very expensive ones. DH's family legacy not my side. I digress Sandy Hill was by far one of the absolute best camps my kids did and the cost was nowhere near the cost of camps in Maine or New Hampshire or Wisconson etc.... Not saying Sandy Hill is cheap by any means sleep away camps are expensive.
