Please do not get ahead of yourself with worries!
IF it comes to his, and that is a big if, this too will not be the end of the world.

DS (age 10) did not make it in a typical private or our local public, but guess what, he is doing wonderfully in his AS program and we love love love it---he has amazing teachers, accesses challenging academics, AND HAS FRIENDS!  He is happy much of the time now and the specialized programming is key for a child with asynchronous development.
