coaches, instructors, school administrators, basically anyone who interacts with my children. I look up federal, state, and local campaign contributions to get an idea of their politics and what kind of people they are since I think people tend to support candidates who are most similar to themselves. I also make a mental note of people who donate to specific candidates vs PACs and political parties. To me, donating to PACs and parties is for the single brain celled, and I often observe that these people are louder with their opinions while being less informed and less intelligent overall. My spouse says ignorance is bliss in this regard. What does the DCUM hivemind think? Am I a weirdo for doing this?
Yes. I think you are kind of a weirdo for immediately online stalking pretty much everyone you meet. Do you also look at religious affiliation, job status, the zestimate for their house, their spouse’s information? I also think people can’t be reduced to a few political donations. FWIW, many companies with PACs basically shut you out of all the interesting candidate talks and news updates if you don’t donate and actively encourage donations. I have not donated to a corporate PAC but i wouldn’t judge someone who had.
You can get all that info elsewhere. PACs waste so much money on overhead it's ridiculous. And political parties are basically jobs programs. If you're donating to anything other than an actual candidate or ballot measure, you're wasting money.
