For a school that loves to market itself as quirky, the process feels surprisingly transactional. EA is never intended to be a genuine admissions round and more like a funnel for identifying weak-minded students who might be converted into binding applicants.[/quote]

My kid was admitted EA and accepted the spot.

But I'm genuinely so confused as to why UChicago has even been mentioned in this thread. There have been tons and tons of threads about UChicago made in the past few weeks -- go there.

There seem to be a few posters on here who have made it their life's mission to diss UChicago at every single opportunity. It's really weird; if you don't like the school, just simply don't apply. It takes a special kind of mental illness to continuously post about a school.[/quote]
