One of my fears is that he will NOT be with teachers and a counselor who have any experience with gifted kids. He's being moved to a brand new, as yet un-staffed AAP center. Our base administration and counselor know our family well and that feels more reassuring. However, I also hear what others of you are saying about an older kid remaining with his peer group for the next 2 years, and keeping my high-strung nerdy kid with his group. the change to a new place might be enough without the strain of a new peer group too.
