Staffing decisions take the total number of teachers available for first to fifth into account (K levels are staffed separately.) Just because the class size guidelines call for no more than 27 kids in a 3rd grade class, for example, doesn't mean that you can't have 31 or 32 kids, depending on how the numbers break out at other levels. And while you might get support from another teacher for reading groups, that's not going to apply for the whole day. Much of the day will be one teacher with the whole class. [/quote]
