Is changing brakes easy if your model requires a dealer subscription and fancy scan tool to disengage the parking brake?
Won’t ever affect me. I’d never own a POS car like that that I couldn’t do simple basic maintenance on. It’s like a tax for being a dumbass. If you buy a car like that, you deserve to have to pay the tax.
It will affect you buddy if you ever buy a new car. All new cars have an electronic parking brake. So it is more difficult to change rear pads. You may be able to do it without a dealer tool but it is going to be more involved than with the mechanical parking brake. In my case I ended up just taking it to the dealer. I still change the front brakes myself.
You can buy the scanner for 100 bucks. BFD. Buy it and be done. Also, very few cars have electronic parking brakes that automatically engage when you put the car in park or turn it off. While almost all cars have done away with the mechanical linkage in favor of brake-by-wire, they need to be engaged by the driver.
