I have a friend with a premed there, they are very happy. I also have a premed at a top school. My best advice is a school where they fit and will be happy, land comfortably in top quarter, and have close access to research, clinical, and shadow opportunities. This will make a long arduous path the least cumbersome and set them up for success.
WashU is a top school, good grief. One can be in the top half (3.75+) from WashU and get into at east one MD school in the US no problem. Top quarter at washU opens options to T25 med, ideal for certain subspecialties because residencies for these specialties prefer students from nationally known tertiary care centers.
I know that, kids from my child’s Ivy get in with very low gpa’s in the scheme of things. I was simply making the point that it is a good strategy for happiness and contentment on a difficult path to not have to fight for grades and opportunities at every turn.
