6th grade DCI family here.  I was expecting class sizes of 23-25 kids when my kid started this school year.  Surprisingly, his classes are much smaller like 15-18 kids.   I don’t know if it is because of the level he is on with his classes.  But they can easily add a few more kids, no problem.

Yes, they have a set number of seats for feeder kids and they of course have to say that’s if there are x kids over that number, they are not guaranteed a seat.  But there is definately wiggle room and DCI looks after their feeder kids.

Lastly, they can increase their numbers without having to go thru any approval because they were very forward thinking when they wet to the charter board for approval and got approved for more seats than what they needed for the feeder schools.

So don’t stress out or worry about it.  The feeder kids will get in.  Last year, the feeder kids on the waitlist all got in by May I think.[/quote]
