There's nothing more annoying than posters talking out of their a$$es when the data is right there for all to see. Year after year the admit rate for boys and girls at UVA is virtually identical. In fact, on a percentage basis a slightly higher percentage of girls get in than boys. For example, in 2025 the rate was 16 percent for girls and 15 for boys.
That doesn't mean it isn't easier for boys.
Yes, it does. It certainly means more than "that's what I think." Year after year after year the admit rates are the same. Year after year after year after year. Take a look at William & Mary and you'll see a stark historical difference.
This does not show us much without showing what the average SAT or GPA scores are for each gender. Plus softs, LORs, etc. I’m a mom of three boys and my youngest is applying to college now. I pay attention. Girls have more competition among themselves than boys do in college admissions.
Sigh. Not everywhere and certainly not in state schools. It's actually illegal under Title IX for a state school to discriminate on the basis of gender in undergrad admissions. It's not illegal for private schools. UVA has long been on record that it does not favor either gender in admissions and the data supports that.
