DCI should not be offering AP classes. Students are expected to participate in the IB DP or CP. AP is not aligned with the school's mission or charter. This is a slippery slope.
DCI is on pace to become the highest scoring public or charter school in the city- I said on pace, it probably won’t pass BASIS but Walls is in decline- and offering APs reflects the preferences of the high performing parents who seek it out. I think there’s a sizable group of people who are ambivalent about the immersion but view it as the only chance for real differentiated learning in DC.
Based on what actual data?
m They won’t give us yoy AP scores but they do give us SAT and walls has declined. Once the test free cohorts really kick in it’ll get much worse. Only question is if DCI can pass JR.
I have a kid at DCI. SAT scores at Walls remain light years ahead and DCI will never catch it. But, yea, I doubt there's much daylight between JR and DCI.
Here is the reality. Walks is a selective school and DCI isn’t. You cannot compare the 2 since not apples to apples. BUT if you look at the average SAT scores of the higher performing kids who pursue the IB diploma, I can bet you their scores are just as good, if not better than Wals since the SAT difference between the two schools is only about 150 points or so
NP and DCI posters are always comparing the school to Walls. And then on any data point where Walls is better thry bring up that it is a selective school. So stop comparing them, and people won’t keep mentioning the SAT scores.
I’m the PP above and did not do any comparison. I’m only refuting the fact mentioned above that Walls SAT scores are “light years” ahead which is not factually true.
We're talking averages, weirdo. Sure you can find DCI kids with high scores, but at Walls virtually all of the kids have high scores. Even now.
