Other summer swim leagues charge entry fees for champs and host the meet in a real venue. https://asa.swimtopia.com/championship
I don't disagree with this practice, particularly with IAS which is of no benefit to the teams since it is not scored and it is after the season is over. I find it off that divisionals does not count for points and it creates an odd dynamic in NVSL.
What kind of odd dynamic are you referring to?
The summer league we used to belong to had divisionals count towards points that impacting team standings. Similar to VHSL. This invests the team, coaches, etc. to put the best line up forward, cheer for others, because the team points matter. NVSL divisionals do not count nor do IAS. Most teams will let swimmers pick whatever events they want. I know our coaches will tell swimmers if they ask what they will do best in but oftentimes the swimmer will pick whatever events they like not caring on how they do or thinking that they know better. On the other hand divisional relays and ASR do count for the team and the points matter. So teams and coaches are invested in them. It is odd to have meets that the team and coaches don't have huge investments in.
