Where are you running and who and what are you running from?  Is it a viable option to run indefinitely to stay alive?  Cause you know, anything weather related, radiation related, natural disaster related...  I'm not sure there's hope in being above ground for too long?

This is a different scenario then making sure you have some emergency supplies at home that you may use if you lose power or some weirdness happens and you just need to get by for a couple of weeks :)

People watch a lot of TV and think they are going hike to someplace away from the problem and suddenly be able to live off-grid in tents, hunting or fishing for food and purifying water...  In our case, my parents have a beach house in South Carolina... and my in-laws own a vacation cabin in WV.  If we had to leave Washington DC metro we would try to drive to one of those locations.  But I don't seriously see that ever happening - its just a localized disaster 'plan' we discussed a few times with our extended family.  In a true Doomsday situation, we're toast.    [/quote]
